KFC Bowl

I used to love KFC when I was a kid, we didn’t go their all the time, it was more of a special treat a couple of times a year when my parents couod get a coupon. But I always loved they crispy skin they had.
I used to make my own bowl with mashed potatoes and gravy, the biscuit and chicken and of coursensome corn and cheese. I thought it was the best things ever, all my favorite parts in one little bowl.

Then KFC came out with their own, but it was the same and we just didn’t go often as they felt expensive and unhealthy. But I still craved the bowl from childhood every once in a while.

I couodnt go there anymore with my new diet but I couod try making my own and it was so much better than kfc.

I made my own gravy with some bone broth and a little flour and cornstarch, i don’t have an exact recipe but Pinterest has plenty.

I used gluten free chicken strips cut up, dairy free shredded Cheese, and mashed potatoes made with cream instead of butter.

I’ve posted the recipe to my blog and its such a good one. This is one recipe you will choose over the KFC one every time.

KFC Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1-3 potatoes chopped and cooked to mashed potatoes
  • 1/4c to 1/2c heavy cream
  • 1 24 oz package popcorn chicken/chicken strips cooked
  • 1 15 oz can corn drained and heated
  • 1 pkg beef gravy/homemade gravy cooked
  • 1/2c to 1c dairy free cheese or cheese of your choice.

Instructions

  • Make 1 potatoes per person, chopping them then boiling until tender. Once cooked use a hand masher or blender to mash up.
  • Add in heavy cream a little at a time until you reachbyoir desired smooth consistency.
  • Cook popcorn chicken or chicken strips according to package. Once cooked cut chicken into smaller pieces.
  • Heat up your corn in the microwave or on stovetop, your preference. You can add salt and pepper or other seasons here if you like.
  • Make your gravy, we use a bone broth gravy recipe but you can use a gravy packet.
  • Assemble bowls by layering potatoes, or stacking the corn, chicken, gravy and then top with shredded cheddar cheese.
