I have always loved handmade gifts since my first born was a toddler and could create. But as I’ve aged and welcomed more kids, the handmade crafts have at times become nicknacks that just take up space or make a part of the room and house feel cluttered.
Since my youngest was born, I’ve taken a more meangful look at what crafts were doing and bringing home, so that we don’t clutter up our space but have projects that are meaningful, and bring happiness and love to our space. Intentional projects that are beautiful to look at but are functional in the space we live.
One of those projects for me, is handprint flowers. It allows me to have adorable handprints of my kids, and displayed as flowers in a lovely vase my husband bought me years ago in our early days. The project is easy and quick to do or can be done over a couple of days if needed, but they’re fun and can be displayed in any part of your home.
The fun and easy part of this project is that it takes watercolor paper, hot glue and pipe cleaners. All you need to do as the parent is trace their hand, cut it out and glue the pipe cleaners to the handprints before displaying them in a jar of your choice.
Supplies:
watercolor paper, or mixed media paper that allows you to use colored pencil, paint, chalk, pul paint, watercolor.
pencil or pen to teach out ha prints. I traced out 4 for each child, to have a full bouquet.
Scissors, to cut out your hand prints.
Hot glue, or regular glue. I found hot glue to be a bit more sturdy and long lasting than regular glue.
Pipe cleaners in varying colors.
A vase of any size and ste.you would like. Doesnt have to be new, can be thrifted or you can make it out of a corn tin can. Or you can use whatever you like as a vase.
I hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s day and you or your wife, mother’s, partner, enjoys the handprint flower bouquet.
