This was such a fun drink to recreate especially as spring and summer are now fast approaching, we already have shorts weather going on here in NC. While fall is my favorite season, i am excited for summer and all the great things well get to do this year.
Anyways, orangsicles are always such a fun popsicle treat and they taste so freaking good. I’ve seen people make orange refreshers with lemonade or raspberry juice. But i really wanted an orange sicle refresher and the new Samsung Google Gemini, helped me create an orangesicle refresher that tastes so good, i will be making it soon again. This is one drink that did not dissapoint.
The Orange Creamsicle Refresher
Yields: 1 Drink
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Orange juice (Freshly squeezed is best for that bright March flavor)
- 1/2 cup Sparkling water or Club soda (Chilled)
- 1 tbsp Heavy cream (or full-fat coconut milk for a dairy-free option)
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 tsp Honey or simple syrup (Optional, depending on how sweet your oranges are)
- Ice (Enough to fill the glass)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Flavor the Juice: In a small glass or measuring cup, whisk together the orange juice, vanilla extract, and your sweetener (if using). Stir until the vanilla is fully incorporated.
- Prep the Glass: Fill a tall glass with ice. If you want a cafe look, slide a thin orange wheel down the side of the glass against the ice.
- The Base Pour: Pour your flavored orange juice mixture over the ice until the glass is about half full.
- Add the Fizz: Top the glass with the sparkling water, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Give it one very gentle stir with a long spoon just to combine the layers.
- The “Cream” Float: Slowly pour the tablespoon of heavy cream directly over the top of the drink.
- Tip: Do not stir it in immediately! Let the cream marble and “bloom” down through the orange juice for a beautiful visual effect.
- Garnish: Add a fresh orange twist or a sprig of mint for a pop of spring green.
Why the Vanilla Matters
The vanilla extract is the “secret sauce” here. Without it, you just have a creamy orange juice; with it, you get that specific flavor profile that tastes exactly like the classic frozen treat.
For a “Whipped” Version:
If you want it to be more like a frothy “frappe” style:
- Put all the ingredients (except the sparkling water) into a blender with a handful of ice.
- Pulse for 10 seconds until frothy.
- Pour into a glass and top with a splash of sparkling water for a bit of “zip.”
